DSLR CAMERA/LENS CALIBRATION
a digital camera aligned to the target for calibration
|
Interchangeable lens cameras and their lenses are often made in different factories at different times and each is made to a tolerance. The first time a particular camera and lens are mated together is after the purchase. They have never been tested as a unit. Due to the manufacturers allowable tolerances they may not focus accurately. Most mid to high range cameras come with a menu option to facilitate AF Fine Tune, also referred to as AF Micro-adjustment. These cameras are capable of storing calibration settings for up 20 lenses. When a calibrated lens is fitted to the camera body it is automatically recognised and the appropriate calibration adjustment is enabled. The result is focus where you want it.
